My passion for helping others in life has led me to my career of choice as a Pediatric and Fetal Cardiac Sonographer for the past 20 years. I have been fortunate to be a part of UCSF for the past 15 years, with three travel assignments and 13 years as a career employee. Having traveled and worked at other Children’s hospitals, I chose UCSF to call home. As a manager of three departments (Pediatric Echocardiography, Pediatric Stress/EKG and Pediatric Pulmonary Function Lab), my passion is to engage my staff in being as committed to excellence as I am, and am proud to share that each and every one of my employees are top notch. In life outside of work, you will find me doing yoga, HIIT, enjoying the beach, bike riding, hiking or just lounging around reading a book.

My dream job since I was thirteen was to be a pediatric echo tech at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, my hard work and determination made it possible in 2015. Since then, I have learned fetal echocardiogram and became a principal sonographer. I love my dream job, but outside of work, I like to spend time with friends and family. Some of my hobbies are traveling, being an amateur photographer, and spending as much time with my husband and our corgi epically at the beach. Our corgi loves taking walks on the beach.

Maureen graduated from UC Berkeley, and worked for the School of Public Health as a research associate for the Northern California Childhood Leukemia Study. Wanting to spend more time with patients and less time with data, she returned to school to study cardiac ultrasound. Upon completing her internship with the UCSF Adult Echo Lab, she worked for Dr. Nelson Schiller’s research study at the VA Medical Center. She was fortunate to join the UCSF Pediatric Echo team in 2007, and subsequently developed advanced skills in Fetal Echo. She enjoys teaching new pediatric cardiology fellows and junior sonographers. When she is not working you might find her rowing a whaleboat on the San Francisco Bay, enjoying live music near or far, or cooking up a feast for family and friends.

I was born and raised in Michigan, but have lived all over the country, thanks to the military and travel echo. I attended echo school in Augusta, GA and started out as an adult sonographer, then came vascular, pediatric and fetal. I am on the board of directors of Pacific Hearts, LLC. We travel to the Federated States of Micronesia to perform pediatric echoes, because rheumatic fever is still very much a thing there. I’m new to UCSF, having recently moved here from Denver, CO. Dogs, traveling, food, family and friends are the things I enjoy outside of work.
